Why Rinku Rajguru And Akash Thosar’s Sairat Is Not Your Run-Of-The-Mill Love Story

The film directed by Nagraj Manjule tells the story of two individuals hailing from different economic backgrounds, falling in love.

If you read the description of Sairat, you would think it is another typical love story that you have either seen or heard of. A rich girl falls in love with a poor guy or vice-versa and they elope as their families don’t approve of the relationship- been there, done that, right? Films such as Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla’s Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak or Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor’s Ishaqzaade are on similar lines. But Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat stands out, despite a similar story. The film shows Parshya (Akash Thosar), a man hailing from a poor background and Archi (Rinku Rajguru), a girl belonging from an influential family falling in love and starting a life together.

Before you make up your mind about Sairat being from the same club, let us assure you it’s not. For starters, the makers chose two actors that come across as authentic and relatable. Archi and Parshya could be any one of us middle-class milennials falling in love. The characters don’t have any too-good-to-be-true elements attached to them. They aren’t conventionally good looking and nor do they wear over-the-top attires. Archi and Parshya are two individuals that are extremely simple.

Secondly, their process of coming together is organic and not forced. The characters take their time in discovering one another. They have their moments of insecurity and doubt. Even though Archi and Parshya elope, it’s only a while later that they realise they can’t do without one another. Their chemistry is believable which is what makes the two instantly likeable.

Sairat is a multi-award winning film that needs your attention. Trust us, you wouldn’t want to miss it. Watch and post your thoughts in the comments section below!
