1. A family of artists
Sudesh Bhosle is a popular playback singer and mimicry artist. He is primarily known for his impeccable impression of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan. Sudesh made an appearance on Zee Marathi’s popular chat show Kanala Khada and started by discussing his childhood. The singer revealed that he hails from a family of artists where his mother is also a celebrated playback singer and father, a painter.

Sudesh reveals that his father would paint posters of Hindi films and has done the same for popular movies like Mughal-E-Azam among others. Soon, he joined his father in the business as he too had a knack for painting.
2. From Bhosle to Big B
Sudesh moves on to discuss how he started getting noticed for his unique mimicry of Amitabh Bachchan. The singer says that in college, he simply spoke in a certain way and his friend helped him realize that the mannerisms resembled Big B. Sudesh then started impersonating the superstar in college plays and soon became famous for it. Sudesh maintains that this skill of his is “god-gifted”
3. When Jumma Chumma put Sudesh on the map
Who doesn’t know Amitabh’s iconic song Jumma Chumma from Hum, right? The evergreen track was sung by Sudesh in Big B’s voice and he reveals that it put him on the map. “Rest is all history,” he says adding that Amitabh had personally congratulated him and said that his wife Jaya Bachchan couldn’t believe that it was Sudesh who had sung the song and not Big B himself!
4. When Sudesh got the stage fright
Aside from being a playback singer, Sudesh is also a performer and tours around for live concerts. He reveals that after celebrated singer Kishore Kumar’s death, Sudesh was asked to step in and sing in his voice for a lot of films. “As a result, I started taking up playback singing projects and wasn’t able to do live performances. I got a chance to do so after nearly 6 months. Even after 20 years of having performed live, I got a stage fright,” he says.
5. When Sudesh made Pancham Da cry
Sudesh reveals that he was discovered by a group called Melody Lovers and was asked to start working for them, due to his unique talent. As he progressed in his career, he was noticed by singing sensation Asha Bhosle. Sudesh reveals an interesting incident where once, he imitated famous composer R.D Burman aka Pancham Da.
“She played a clip for Pancham Da outside the bathroom, while he was taking a shower. He said he almost felt like his own father was singing. Later I was introduced to Pancham Da and he said he would give me work. During a live performance, I sang like him and afterwards he hugged me and had tears in his eyes. He said he would give me my first song as a playback singer and that’s what happened,” recalls Sudesh.
