Growing up in Indian culture, we have seen and experienced a serious amount of taboos. One of the prominent ones being a large age gap between you and your partner. So, when I saw this topic being the centre of attention in Tula Pahate Re on ZEE5, I leapt with joy. The protagonists Isha Nimkar played by Gayatri Datar and Vikrant Sranjame played by Subodh Bhave are seen to make their relationship work through the various hurdles the scriptwriters are throwing at them. Thanks to which, they have easily become my favourite jodi.

If you, too, are going through the same situation in your relationship, here’s how you can handle it without being too overwhelmed.
1. Uninvited Remarks
A lot (I mean, A LOT) of people are going to judge you, raise eyebrows and probably look down upon you. You will eye-rolling at the floodgate of nosy question your way. You too can stand your ground, stand up for the love of your life.
2. No dominance
Make sure both of you have an equal say in the relationship, irrespective of the age. Your partner opinion should overpower yours and likewise. In Tula Pahate Re, Isha always makes sure her voice is her even in most difficult situations.
4. Don’t overthink it
Given the judgements that ‘might’ come your way, you don’t have to apprehensive and let it take a toll on you. Let the conversations flow the way they are, you can get into the relationship, ONLY when you feel emotionally ready.
5. Keep conversations open
You must keep talking to your partner about every discomfort. You have seen how Vikrant and Isha handle their conversations even in delicate times. Please refrain from making assumptions about your partner before having a chat with them, it just creates a vicious circle in your head.
