The popular Zee Marathi serial Agga Bai Sasubai is a favorite amongst the viewers, for it’s wonderfully crafted storyline and the unique characters, that have succeeded in capturing the attention of the audience. Starring Nivedita Saraf, Girish Oak and Tejashri Pradhan, this serial tells the tale of Asawari (Nivedita), a widow, who finds love again in celebrity chef Abhijeet Raje (Girish). The two are brought closer by Asawari’s daughter-in-law Shubhra (Tejashri), who is the only one in the family, who supports this union. Where Nivedita and Tejashri have received praise for their positive characters, Aashutosh Patki, who plays Soham on the show, has a very different experience thanks to his onscreen character.

The actor’s character is seen as a spoilt brat, who takes his mother Asawari for granted and often tries to create a divide between her and Abhijeet. He doesn’t approve of their relationship, owing to his regressive and orthodox thinking. In an interview to a portal, Ashutosh recently revealed that ever since he has started playing the role of Soham in Agga Bai Sasubai, he has been receiving mean jibes, from viewers!
“Soham is a spoilt brat who doesn’t care for his mother. While some watch it as any other daily soap and praise me as an artist, a few involve too much into the show and see us as the real-life character,” said Ashutosh, while speaking about his character to the portal. The way we see it, the has understood the essence of the character and played it so well, that the people have started to see him as Soham instead of Ashutosh. Agreed?
“I, my friend and his dad have lunch together but when he sees my serial, he asks my friend, ‘Is Ashutosh like Soham?’ Also, my neighbors used to be nice to me before Agga Bai Sasubai, but now whenever they see me on the stairs or outside the building, they ignore me.” he further added.
Aashutosh also elaborated about his experience on the sets of the show. He said that he shares a great bond with his onscreen Ajoba. He also shares a special bond with Nivedita, his onscreen mother, who prepares his favorite dishes and surprises him with it. Tejashri also helps him with his language speaking skills. “I don’t feel like I’m away from home,” said the actor. Aashutosh also spoke about how he accidentally landed up playing the role of Soham. He revealed that had to cancel a vacation and book the immediate flight from Goa, to return to Mumbai.
