In the recent episode of the show, we saw Shubhra shedding light on women empowerment. We look at the 5 crucial points brought up by her, starting with the fact that everyone has the right to be happy. Shubhra tells Asawari that just because she is a widow and has a family to look after, doesn’t mean she can’t get married or be involved in a relationship again. She tells that just like everyone else, she too has the right to look out for herself and pursue what she wants.
2. A homemaker’s efforts need to be acknowledged and appreciated
Shubhra points out that Asawari spends her life in taking care of others, be it giving Ajoba his food and medicines on time or taking care of Soham’s smallest needs. Amidst all this, there are very few who truly care about her wishes and ask her about what she wants. She adds that like Asawari there are plenty of women out there who curb their desires, thinking that that’s the way they are supposed to be. Shubhra declares that the efforts that women put in taking care of their family and homes need to be acknowledged and appreciated.
4. Most women are conditioned to compromise
Shubhra speaks of the women folk in broader terms and says that most of them are conditioned to compromise. She says that before marriage, the compromises are with regards to how a woman is supposed to lead her teenage and adult life. And after marriage, it all becomes about the wife taking care of her husband and his family. Shubhra points out that this practice needs to change.
3. No one can take a call on Asawari’s way of living
While speaking of Asawari, Shubhra tells Abhijeet that Ajoba and Soham have no idea about what makes her happy. They assume that Asawari is happy and content in taking care of them and the house. But none of them bother to ask her about what she wishes to do. Shubhra says that only Asawari has the right to take a call on what makes her happy and that no one can decide that for her, not even her own family.
5. Societal pressures can’t dictate a woman’s life
Shubhra and Abhijeet discuss about Asawari and say that she isn’t pursuing a relationship with the latter, as she is scared of being judged by society. They express that due to societal pressures, many women are forced into living their lives according to certain terms and conditions, and that isn’t fair.
