The coronation ceremony of Rajyabhishek started from Shivaji Maharaj’s time. During this era, Chhatrapati was ruling an extensive and independent Maratha kingdom. To officiate the kingdom so the subjects and the outsiders could recognise him as the king, Shivaji Maharaj started this ceremony. This was successful with the support of his courtiers.
